ALTON – Arnold “Pa” “Mac” M. McKenney, 68, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 3, 2008, after a courageous, yearlong battle with liver cancer, surrounded by his loving family and special son-in-law, Frankie, who never left his side. He was born April 20, 1939, at home in Lowell, the son of the late Percy A. and Emma M. (Tupper) McKenney. Arnold was educated in Lowell schools. He served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1962 to 1964, having fought in Vietnam. His grandchildren were most important in his life and held a special place in his heart. He was most proud as an owner, operator and driver of his truck-ing company, having driven more than three million miles. Arnold enjoyed singing and playing guitar when he was on trips to Florida. He was an avid outdoorsman, having enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. With these hobbies, he made fond memories, especially his trips to Alaska and Lake Ontario with his beloved family. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his wife and companion of 33 years, Sharon; two children, Angela (Campbell) Robinson and her husband, Aaron, and their children, Adam, Ashley and Alicia, all of Steuben and Paula (Campbell) Ouellette and her husband, Frankie, and their children, Nicholas and Nathan, all of Argyle; four brothers, Stanley McKenney and his companion, Theresa Thurlow, of Lowell, George McKenney, special fishing buddy, and his wife, Dottie, of Orono, Ronald McKenney and his wife, Valerie, of Lowell and Daynell McKenney and his wife, Myrtle, of Lowell; several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law and their husbands, Donna and Don London and their families, all of Buxton and Joan and “Bimbo” Pinkham and their families, all of Steuben; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Ivis Campbell of Steuben, all of his dear friends of LaGrange; special friends, Gene Lattig of Lee, Bobbie Hall of Old Town, Lloyd Wickett of Fort Myers, Fla., Sid Look of Jonesport and Mike Hall of Jonesport. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Ted and Forrest; and a sister, Anna. “Don’t worry about me, when you hear thunder in the sky, it’s me making one more run in my new white Western Star with gold rims,” Arnold McKenney.
