BREWER – Ashley C. “Porky” Dumont, 77, passed away March 26, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 20, 1927, in Milo, the son of Alphonse Dumont and Lila (Stockwell) Darling. He was born and raised in Milo. He moved to Bangor, where he met his wife of 40 years, Joan (Augherton) Dumont. After 32 years, he retired from Maine Central Railroad. He was a member of the Shrine, the Eagles Club and the Brewer Snowmobile Club. During his life, he had a love of the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing at Snake Pond and snowmobiling. He was young at heart and loved dancing and tinkering in his garage. He was always quick to help others and will be missed by many. Ashley was predeceased by his parents, brother, Reginald and his wife, Theresa. He is survived by his wife, Joan; two stepchildren, David Mackin and his wife, Sandra, of Hampden and Maryann Murray and her husband, Patrick, of Orrington; sister, Jeannette Michaud and Bill of Connecticut; sister-in-law, Sally Taylor of Brewer; brother-in-law, Howard Augherton and his wife, Jackie, of Bangor; grandchildren, great-grandchild-ren, nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, with the Rev. Rudolph Leveille officiating. Interment will be in the spring at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Gifts in his memory may be made to Eastern Maine Charities, EMMC, P.O. Box 404, Bangor, ME 04402-0404.
