AUBREY O. GRANT JR. HOULTON – Aubrey O. Grant Jr., 80, passed away peacefully July 6, 2006, at the Houlton Region-al Hospital. He was born Jan. 15, 1926, in Houlton, the son of the late Aubrey O. and Thelma (Stone) Grant. Aubrey graduated from Houlton High School in 1944. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War, and was an original crewmember of the USS Wasp. While Aubrey filled many working roles in the community, he will be most remembered for his banking career with the First National Bank and as regional vice president of Bangor Savings Bank. He was a faithful member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and was also a member of the Houlton Lodge of Elks, Houlton Community Golf Course, Rotary Club and previously served on the school board. His favorite pastimes were hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with friends and family. Aubrey is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances (Gates) Grant of Houlton; his two sons, Andrew Grant and his wife, Laure, of Omaha, Neb., Fred Grant and his wife, Renee’, of Houlton; five grandchildren, Erin, Kevin, Connor, Ben and Ellie; two sisters, Pauline and her husband, Joseph McKay, Geraldine and her husband, Leighton Bell; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call noon until the time of service 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. Leslie Nesin officiating. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery.
