MOUNT CHASE – Austin Lord, 85, of Mt. Chase, died Dec. 23, 2003 at Whiting. He was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Hersey, the son of Elmer and Mary (York) Lord. He married Annie (Wheaton) Lord on June 6, 1950. Austin worked in the woods and for the JM Huber Corp. He loved vegetable gardening and sold his harvest to local stores, where his corn was known as the “best corn in the state.” He is survived by his wife of 53 years of Mt. Chase; three children, Bernice and her husband, Carl McHatten, of Whiting, Joel and his wife, Marsha Lord, of Wayland, Mass., Rachel and her husband, Dwinal Anderson of Mt. Chase; several grandchildren; two sisters, Ida Graves of Pittsfield, Belle Paige of Lincoln; and one brother, Carl Lord of Oakfield; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and one grandson, Joel Austin Lord II. Friends may call 8:30-10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at the Patten Pentecostal Church, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Regginal Adams officiating.
