MACHIAS – Avery G. Rogers, 73, passed away Aug. 26, 2006, surrounded by his family at his residence. Avery grew up in East Machias and worked for the town of Machias, retiring after 33 years. Avery enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping with family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Vera (Davis) Rogers, of 38 years; sons, Paul Rogers of Bangor and Carlton Rogers of Arizona; his daughters, Leitha Gehrand and her husband, Scott, of Portland, Ore., Darlene Rogers of Mapleton, Debbie Perry and her husband, Randy, of Columbia, Melody Rogers and her companion, David Gardner, of Columbia and April Rogers of Connecticut; one very special granddaughter, Heather Williams and her husband, Peter; great-grandson, Avery Williams, all of Machias; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sister and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by his mother, Mae Huntley; and one grandson, Randy Perry Jr. A graveside service for Avery will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at the Jacksonville Cemetery, East Machias.
