FORT FAIRFIELD – Avis D. Holton, 86, died Aug. 29, 2005, at a Mars Hill healthcare facility. She was born June 11, 1919, in Washburn, the daughter of Wesley and Idella (Lovely) Maynard. Avis was employed for many years at Potato Service Company in Presque Isle. She will be fondly remembered for her great sense of humor and love for story telling. Avis made people feel very comfortable when they were around her and she loved making people laugh. These attributes made her a very special wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Archie Holton, of Fort Fairfield; daughters, Sandy Pelletier and her husband, Ralph, of Fort Fairfield, and Carolyn Davenport of Waynesboro, Pa.; 17 grandchildren, several great and great-great-grandchildren; step children, Brent Holton, Laverne Bubar and Linda Sutherland, all of Fort Fairfield, and Dick Holton of Portland; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceasing her was a son, Merle W. McIntosh; stepson, Regin-ald Holton; and three sisters and five brothers. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Bernard Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Crouseville Cemetery.
