BANGOR – Avis Katherine Dalgren, 86, lost her battle with cancer June 21, 2006, surrounded by her family at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born Nov. 22, 1919, in Caribou, the daughter of Albin Joel and Louise (Hanson) Edstrand. Avis’s family was her life and she will be remembered as an incredible role model for all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Vincent Dalgren of Bangor; her twin children, Donetta Leighton and husband, Cary, of Glenburn, Dana Dalgren and wife, Joyce Marie, of Glenburn; three grandchildren, Carrie Chilson and husband, Scott, Kyle Leighton and Ashley Leighton; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Zander Chilson; and her loving sisters, Arlene, Freda, Naida and Rita. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Marvin. At Avis’s request the family will have a private gathering.
