DERRY, N.H. – Azilda M. (Dube) Vela, 28, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Community Hospice House, Merrimack, N.H., after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of David A. Vela, who she married in 2002. Mrs. Vela was born Aug. 11, 1979, in Fort Kent, a daughter of Orese M. (Michaud) and Paul E. Dube. She had resided in Derry, N.H., for the past year. After graduating from Hunter College in New York in 2002, Mrs. Vela had worked as a registered nurse in New York, Florida, Eagle Lake and then at Hampstead Hospital, Hampstead, N.H. Mrs. Vela was a very family-oriented person, loved spending time with them and coordinated all the family get-togethers. She was passionate about cooking and enjoyed to cook for friends and family. Mrs. Vela is survived by her husband, David A. Vela of Derry, N.H.; two sons, Vincent P. Vela and Anthony D. Vela, both at home in Derry, N.H.; her parents of Eagle Lake; two brothers, David P. Dube of Eagle Lake and Ryan E. Dube and his wife, Jennifer, of Shapleigh; two sisters, Ruby J. Shorey and her husband, David, of Derry, N.H., and Sarah A. Dube of Eagle Lake; her maternal grandmother, Edna Michaud of Eagle Lake; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be held 3-5 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, N.H. A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 5, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry, N.H. Burial will be after at Forest Hill Cemetery at the family’s convenience.
