DEXTER – Barbara C. Cook, 76, the wife of Paul A. Cook, went to be with her Lord and Savior March 27, 2008, surrounded by her family, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Feb. 18, 1932, in Dexter, the daughter of Thomas and Mildred (Ganeau) Clukey. She had been a former employee of Dexter Shoe, Guilford of Maine, Clark’s Photography and Security Reality, before retiring from Mac Dougall’s Bakery in 1994. She graduated from Piscataquis Community High School in 1978. She was a member of Charleston Pentecostal Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active in singing in choir, and was a member of Souls Harbor Choir. Barbara enjoyed cooking, drawing, yardsales, spending time with her family and ministering to area nursing home residents. Surviving, in addition to her husband of 41 years, are a son, Michael Gould and his special friend, Gale Nelson, of Kenduskeag; a daughter, Frances Peachey and her husband, Robert, of Guilford; a grandson, Timothy Peachey of Guilford; a special granddaughter, Stacy Green and her husband, James; and great-grandson, James Michael of Etna; stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, great-stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Clukey of Sangerville, and Carroll Clukey and his special friend, Doris Cossett, of Orono; and three sisters, Dorilda Worster of Corinth, Shirley Worster and Donald of Corinna, and Gloria Cross and her husband, Kenneth, of Dexter. Barbara was predeceased by a son, Allen Gould; and two daughters, Michelle Gould and Ann Marie Worster. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff and management of Stillwater Health Care, where Barbara spent the last nine years, and also to the staff at St. Joseph Hospital for their loving care. Friends may call noon Monday until time of services 2 p.m. at Charleston Pentecostal Church with Pastor Matthew Ward officiating. Spring burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. The family wishes to invite friends and relatives to join them for a time of sharing memories and refreshments after the service in the church fellowship hall.
