OLD TOWN – Barbara Chase (Porter) Wood, 90, died Jan. 21, 2005, at an Orono nursing facility. She was born Jan. 18, 1915, in Old Town the daughter of Leslie Norville and Myrtle (Chase) Porter. She is survived by a son, Kenneth Wood Jr., and his wife, Shirley, of Old Town; two daughters, Carolyn Scharf and her husband, Bill, of New Hampshire, Pamela Gray of Florida; her grandchildren who were an important part of her life, Pam Thornton, Jerry Ford, Ben and Alex Gray, Kathy Perkins and her husband, Dale, Kenny, Jon, Mark, and Holly Wood; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, Corinne Trafton and her husband, Maynard, Lucille Colford and her husband, Carroll. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Wood Sr.; her parents, and a sister, Gertrude Smith. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Orono Commons for their wonderful care of the mother. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Sunday, at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main Street, Old Town, where a prayer service will be conducted 3 p.m. with Pastor Ron Chaffee.
