SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. – Barbara J. Abusamra, 80, of Linden Drive, died peacefully Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, at Scallop Shell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Brewer, she was the daughter of the late Galen and Ethel Goodwin. She was the loving wife of Ward Abusamra. Mrs. Abus-amra graduated from the University of Maine and continued her studies at Julliard School of Music. She was the organist at Kingston Congregational Church for 19 years, taught at the Northern Conservatory of Music, Bangor and taught piano privately for more than 25 years. She was past president of P.E.O. Sisterhood, a member of the Every Tuesday Club, the Triangle Club, past president of the Fayerweather Craft Guild and member of the Peace Dale Congregational Church. In addition to her husband, she leaves her sons, Jim Abusamra of Northboro, Mass., and Joe Abusamra of Annapolis, Md.; daughter, Lois Chavez of Kingston; brothers, Howard Goodwin of Sun City, Fla., and the Rev. Robert Goodwin of Sparta, N.J.; five grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Donald Goodwin and Mildred Wilbur. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Peace Dale Congregational Church, 261 Columbia St., Peace Dale, R.I. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scallop Shell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 981 Kingstown Road, Peace Dale, RI 02879 or Peace Dale Congregational Church.
