BAR HARBOR – Barbara M. Brown, 82, died March 13, 2005, at a Bar Harbor health care facility. She was born July 5, 1922, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Howard Roland and Ruth Gladys (Maddocks) Mitchell. Barbara was a loving, caring mother and very fond of her grandchildren. She enjoyed tailoring and making her own clothes. Barbara was a member of the Bar Harbor Congregational Church for more than 70 years and church was part of Barbara’s life. She was past worthy matron of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her son, Howard Mitchell Brown and wife, Bonnie Alexander, of Newmarket, Ontario; and her daughter, Ruth Keene and long time companion, Barry Muise, of Lamoine; one sister, Dorothy White of Hulls Cove; two grandchildren, Erin Duncan Brown and Duncan Mitchell Brown, both of Newmarket, Ontario; and loving cousin, Lucille Sprague of Bangor. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Robert; and a sister, Anna Jean Turner. Friends are invited to call 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Jordan-Fernald, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor. Funeral services will be held, 10 a.m. Thursday, at the Bar Harbor Congregational Church, with the Rev. Dr. Sandra Reed officiating. Spring interment will be at Nicolin Cemetery, North Ellsworth.
