NEWPORT – Beatrice L. Albaugh, 93, died Jan. 20, 2005, at a Pittsfield hospital, following a brief illness. She was born Nov. 25, 1911, at Newport, a daughter of John and Blanche (Grant) Folsom. She graduated from Newport High School, Class of 1929, and graduated from the University of Maine, Class of 1933. She, along with her late husband, E. Kenneth Albaugh, worked as social workers for the American Red Cross during World War II. A long-time resident of Newport, Bea was a member of the Newport Women’s Club and St. Martin’s Episcopal Church. She is survived by her son, Edward and wife, Jean Albaugh, of South Weymouth, Mass.; a daughter, Ruth Donaldson of Newport; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and several nephews. In addition to her husband, Bea was predeceased by a grandson, David McKenzie; and two brothers, Harold and Malcolm Folsom. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport with the Rev. Kevin Holsapple officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newport. Donations in her memory may be made to the American Red Cross, Pine Tree Chapter, 33 Mildred Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
