EAGLE LAKE – Bernadette T. Simard, 87, died July 17, 2007, at an Eagle Lake health care facility. She was born May 16, 1920, the daughter of George and Ida (Daigle) Michaud. She was a certified nurse’s aide at Eagle Lake Boarding Home for more than 32 years. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Eagle Lake. She donated a lot of her time at the Eagle Lake Good Shepherd Store and volunteered her services to help people in her community whenever needed. She is survived by one son, Fred Simard Jr. of Eagle Lake; three daughters, Mary Blair and her husband, Raynold, of Eagle Lake, Joyce Voisine and her husband, James, of Winterville, and Ona Jean Bouchard and her husband, Hampy, of Eagle Lake; a special daughter-in-law, Margaret Simard of Eagle Lake; two brothers, George Michaud and Leonard Michaud, both of West Enfield; one sister, Estelle Aroson of East Hartford, Conn.; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred A. Simard Sr., in 1990; one son, George Simard, in 1987; one grandson, Mark J. Voisine, in 2000; five brothers, Bertrand, Cyprien, Edmond, Joe and Reginald Michaud; and one sister, Carmen Michaud. At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours at the funeral home. Friends are asked to attend a Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Eagle Lake. Committal services will be after at the parish cemetery. Those who wish may donate in her memory to Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 163 Lancaster St., Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101-2406. Envelopes will be available at the church. Arrangements are being conducted by Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
