HOWLAND – Bernard D. Glidden Jr., 65, died Aug. 3, 2005, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Sept. 29, 1939, in Howland, the son of Bernard D. and Pauline R. (Smart) Glidden Sr. He was an Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion. With his wife, Rosemary, he owned and operated Little Peter’s Restaurant in Howland for 34 years. Bernard enjoyed four-wheeling and going “fiddle heading”. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Haverlock) Glidden of Howland; one son, Peter D. Glidden of Howland; sisters, Mary Chamberlain and Bettyann Smith and her husband, Richard; a brother, Vaughn Glidden and his wife, Rena, of Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Irene Haverlock, Loretta Bernard and her husband, Francis, Jennie Leighton and her husband, William; brothers-in-law, Albert Haverlock and his wife, Eileen and Harold Sherwood; special nieces and nephews, Andy Kreta and Susie Kreta, both of Stratford, Conn., Katie Foster of Howland, Bradley Harris and Brian Harris, both of West Enfield, Laurie Ann Harris and her husband, Larry, Susan Foster and her husband, Mike, Barry Smith, Karen Vanderburgh of Rochester, N.Y., Dawn Chamberlain and her friend, Chip, and Stephen and John Glidden; several other special nieces and nephews; two special friends, Rip and Ruth Sage; two special pals, Barney and Bear. He will be sadly missed by the morning gang at Little Peter’s and by all of his special employees that have been very loyal to him. Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clayton Crocker officiating. Interment will be at a later date.
