LEWISTON – Bernice B. Melanson, 83, of 30 Pettingill St. died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at her residence of 40 years after a short illness. She is now with the love of her life, Guy Melanson, her husband of 57 years whom she married Aug. 12, 1940 and he died Feb. 13, 1998. She was born May 20, 1922, in St. Francis, the daughter of Eugene and Melvina (Michaud) Jandreau. Bernice loved having friends and family stop by at her home and she also enjoyed playing cards. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Julienne Ouellette of St. Francis; her sisters-in-law, Laurette Melanson of Fort Kent, and Rolande Melanson of Proctersville, Vt.; a son, John Charles Melanson and his wife, Priscilla, of Littleton, N.H.; a daughter, Marie Alvina Hale of Lisbon; four grandchildren, Sarah Hale, Ryan Hale, Stacy Newman and Josh Merrill; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Joel Newman; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 2-6 p.m. Tuesday at the family owned Pinette Funeral Home, 87 Bartlett St., Lewiston. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Church in Lewiston. Interment in St. Charles Cemetery in St. Francis later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, it was her wish that donations should be sent to the Androscoggin Home Hospice, 15 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, ME 04240.
