PITTSFIELD – Berniece V. Debay, 76, of Detroit, died Nov. 3, 2004, at the Sebasticook Valley Hospital. She was born June 5, 1928, in Debeck, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of George and Myrtle (Guy) Farrell. She was married to Vaughan Debay until his passing in May of 1984. She worked for Northeast Shoe then she and her husband owned and operated the Western Auto in Newport for 16 years retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Pittsfield Ladies Coffee Club and enjoyed many types of crafts especially making handmade quilts. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Gilbert of Oakland, Donna Gilbert of Oakland, Robin Schissler and husband, George of Detroit; and one son, Ralph Debay of Detroit; seven grandchildren, Craig and Corey Dionne, Cheri Neal, Wendi Ward, Joshua Gilbert, Brandi and Ryan Schissler; eight great-grand-children, and very good friends Valerie Varney and Alice Patterson. She was predeceased her husband; her sister, Glenna Myles; brother, Merlon Farrell; two grandchildren, Christopher Dionne and Chani Dunton; and great-grandchild, Macy Folsom. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at Donald H. Shorey Funeral Chapel, 35 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5. Interment will follow at the Pittsfield Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield. Donations in her memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 654 State Street, Bangor, Maine 04401.
