HERMON – Bert C. White, 64, died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, on Kelley’s Point in Jonesport. He was born May 17, 1941, in Jonesport, the son of Earl C. and Juanita M. (Reed) White. Bert was a graduate of Jonesport High School, class of 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy for a brief time in the early 1960’s. Bert was employed for many years at the Eastern Maine Medical Center, working on the grounds crew, and then for the housekeeping department, where he worked on Special Projects, before retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Messiah Baptist Church in Bangor. Bert was a resident of Hermon for more than 40 years, although his heart was always at his true home in Jonesport. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sandra L. (Freeman) White of Hermon; two children, Leona Malzac and her husband, Michael, of Dallas, Texas, and Clayton White and his wife, Holly, of Hermon; four grandsons, Ryan, Nicholas, and Shawn Malzac, all of Dallas, Texas, and Noah White of Hermon; a sister, Marjorie Gould and her husband, Gorham, of Everett, Mass.; and her three children, Joy Peterson and family of New Hampshire, Stephen Gould and his family of Massachusetts, and David Gould and his family of Oklahoma; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Freeman and his wife, Violet, and Jim Freeman and his wife, Anne, all of Hermon; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bert was predeceased by two sisters, Nadine and Beatrice White; and two nephews, Benjamin Lewis and Bobby Clark. Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at the Bay View Cemetery, Mason’s Bay Road, Jonesport, with the Rev. Herman C. Frankland officiating. It would be Bert’s wish that in place of sending flowers to be at his grave, those who would should take a loved one to dinner and spend time with them in his memory. Arrangements are by Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias. A memorial register and directions is available online at Legacy.com <>
