JONESPORT – Bertha Ada (Matthews) Brown, 72, passed away at a Bangor hospital, Oct. 26, 2004, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Ralph Lawrence “Buster” Brown, Jr. Bertha was born at Milbridge, Dec. 25, 1931, to Amos Ellery and Maud Alice (Randall) Matthews. Bertha attended the Jonesport school system. She married Buster Brown on Dec. 17, 1949. She enjoyed her trips shopping and cooking for her family. The joy of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bertha always looked forward to being with the Tuesday Nite Club. She very much enjoyed their friendship and support. Bertha is survived by four daughters and one son, daughter, Shirley Marie (Brown) Norton and her fianc?, Julius L. Erdo, of Jonesport and her family, Danielle Lee (Norton) Dawes; daughter, Camry Jade Dawes of Harrington; Clifford Leroy Norton III of Jonesport; Spencer Michael Norton and wife, Darlene Renee Norton, and their daughter, Amber Marie Norton of Jonesboro; Natalie Suzanne Norton and her fianc?, Aaron Tracey Beal, and her children, NaKia Lee Brown Albee and Cooper Aaron Beal of Jonesport; daughter, Cheryl Ann (Brown) Woodward and husband, Donald Chester Woodward of Jonesport and their family, Dawn Marie Woodward and her daughter, Erin Leigh Crowley of Addison; Shelby Lynn (Woodward) Peabody and husband, Chad Eliot Peabody and their son, Sebastian Michael Peabody of Jonesboro; Staff Sergeant Robin Renee Woodward and her fianc?, James “Jamie” Patrick Murphy of Warwick, R.I.; Carrie Jo Woodward of Jonesport; daughter, Ann Marie Brown and her son, Spc. E4 Brent Edward Brown of Murray, Utah; daughter, Faith Lynn Brown of Old Town; and son, Ford Randall Brown of Jonesport. Bertha is also survived by a sister, Eleanor Marie (Matthews) Kilton of Jonesport, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, a brother; Merle Franklin Matthews, and a daughter; Robin Renee Brown. In Bertha’s memory, she would like for you to take a very dear friend out to eat and let them know how much you care for them. Family and friends may visit and pay last respects to Bertha at the Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church in Jonesport, 7-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2004. A graveside service will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Jonesport, 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, with Pastor George L. Woodward officiating.
