CHAPMAN – Bertina M. (Grendell) Pulcifur, 76, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at the Mars Hill Nursing Home, after a short battle with lung cancer. She was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Mapleton, the daughter of Miles and Mary (Akeley) Grendell. After attending Mapleton schools, she worked various jobs including a teller at Aroostook Trust Bank, in bookkeeping at WAGM TV, manager at WEGP Radio and retired after seven years as a CNA at the Presque Isle Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Erlon E. Pulcifur in 2003. She is survived by three sons, Richard and a special friend, Joyce, of Mapleton, Terrance and his wife, Martie, Larry and his wife, Pat, all of Chapman; two daughters, Kendra Page and her husband, Allen, of Presque Isle, Gayla Shaw and her husband, Allen, of Bradford; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, seven great-step-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Hughes and her husband, Merle, of Presque Isle, Jean Condon of Marion, Ala.; a brother, Ron Grendell and his wife, Vivian, of Antioch, Tenn.; a brother-in-law, Lorne Pulcifur and his wife, Clara, of Wallingford, Conn.; and a sister-in-law, Lillian Gaboriaults of North Port, Fla. At her request there will be no calling hours or services. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Hospice of Aroostook, P.O. Box 688, Caribou, ME 04736-9976.
