HARRINGTON – Beth Ann (Hartford) Stadler, 67, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 19, 2008, surrounded by her family, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, Ellsworth. She was born Oct. 13, 1940, in Machias, the daughter of the late Crawford P. and Pauline (Nash) Hartford. Beth was married to Walter L. Stadler, while he was in the U.S. Air Force. They traveled extensively to different bases where he was stationed. They were Dow Air Force Base, Bangor; Spokane, Wash.; Fargo, N.D.; Tuscon, Ariz.; and Hahn Air Force Base, Germany. While in Germany, Beth taught for the Department of Defense. She was a wonderful teacher, recently retiring from the Winter Harbor Grammar School. The students adored her. She enjoyed working at the Bargain Hut, Columbia. Customers would stay extra time to talk to her. Beth was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of Order of Eastern Star of Addison and she was a founding member of Maine Blade Runners Bass-fishing club. Beth is survived by her husband of 44 years, Walter L. Stadler; a daughter, Leanne Ortega and husband, Louis; two granddaughters, Cassie and Brittany Chase; and a great-granddaughter, Sierra Hernandez. She is also survived by a sister, Hulda “Huddy” Peterson and her husband, Charles Jr., of Harrington; nephews, Roger Peterson of Florida, Chuck and Bonnie Peterson of Cherryfield, Michael Peterson and Cassie Nealy of Harrington and Timothy and Dea Peterson of Harrington; great-nieces are Madison, Kristine and Autumn Peterson; and a great-nephew, Zakary Peterson. A time of visitation will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. A service of remembrance will be celebrated 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at Harrington Baptist Church, Main Street, Harrington with Pastor Danny Davis officiating.
