BETSY D. BRIDGES OLD TOWN – Betsy D. Bridges, 72, went home to be with the Lord after a brief illness with cancer, Dec. 30, 2003 at an Orono health care center with her loving family by her side. She was born Nov. 2, 1931, the daughter of Arthur and Daphne (Jones) Doncaster of Calais. Betsy was a former resident of Ellsworth where she owned and operated Bridges Dairy Joy. She also worked and retired from New England Telephone Co. After retirement, she spent many hours helping others including her volunteer work with RSVP. She was a member of the Old Town United Baptist Church and she loved to read, knit and crochet and she loved the beauty of the Maine coast and all it had to offer. Betsy was a very loving and caring person and was a friend to all that knew her. Surviving are two children, John ‘Jack’ Bridges and his wife, Sharon, of Hancock, Lisa Buck and her husband, Michael, of Bradley; one granddaughter, Laura; one sister, Marie deGaribody; two special nieces, Dawn Marie Glidden of Old Town and Colleen MacMillan of Brewer Lake. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Jean Pressey and Dorothy Tucker. She will be remembered by a special friend, Al Margison of Old Town.
