MACHIAS – Bette A. Parker, 77, died unexpectedly April 16, 2006, as the result of an automobile accident. She was born Dec. 27, 1928, in Livermore Falls the daughter of the late William and Althea (Moulton) Kinch. She was a member of the Hannah Weston Chapter of the DAR and the Down East Community Hospital Auxiliary. Bette taught one year at Kents Hill and 11 years at Machiasport. She was a substitute teacher in S.A.D. No. 77 for many years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Bill Parker. Bette is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Wolverton and her husband, Tom, of Marshfield, Cynthia Merritt and her husband, Michael, of Hancock; her son, John Parker of Marshfield; five grandchildren, Michael Merritt of Ellsworth, Marc Merritt and wife, Pam, of Cherryfied, Amy Pelletier and husband, Chris, of Gorham, Sara Butler and husband, Brad, of Palmyra, Va., and Ian Parker of Hallowell; three great-grandchildren, one brother, C. William Kinch of Belgrade; and several nieces and nephews. At Bette’s request there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at the Holy Name Catholic Church in Machias. Interment will follow at Longfellow Cemetery in Machias. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bette’s memory to the Down East Community Hospital Chapel Fund, R.R. 1 Box 11, Machias, ME 04654.
