CORINNA – Beulah (Doherty) Knowles, 90, passed away peacefully Jan. 20, 2005, at an Orono health care facility. She was born May 31, 1914, at Wakefield, Mass., a daughter of Bert and Fern (Whittaker) Doherty. Beulah was self-employed with her husband, Charles H. Knowles on the family farm that dates back to the early days of Corinna. She attended the United Methodist Church in Corinna and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Beulah was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by two daughters, Linda E. Smith and husband, Carl, of Corinna and Donna Lee Brodeur and husband, Dennis, of Millinocket; five grandchildren, Eric Smith, Sylvia Miholovich, Susan Cummiskey, Chad Brodeur and Jennifer Caruso; eight great-grandchildren, Sarah and Stephen Smith, Connor Miholovich, Carlton Cummiskey, Luke and Grant Brodeur, and Alex and Ryan Caruso; a brother, Dana Doherty and wife, Ki, of Corinna; several nieces and nephews, including her niece, Judy Young and family, who were an important part of Beulah’s life. She was predeceased by her husband in 1983; brothers, Lionel and Bert Doherty Jr.; sisters, Constance Doherty, Doreen Clark and Clara Louise Stevens. Funeral services will be held in May at the Corinna United Methodist Church with Pastor Sharon Lovejoy officiating, at a time to be announced. Burial will be in the Corinna Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 418, Corinna, ME 04928. Beulah’s family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Orono Commons for the wonderful loving care she received. Also a special thanks to her two resident angels, Ben and Michael.
