BAR HARBOR – Blanche E. Cunningham, 99, wife of the late Walter R. Cunningham, passed away April 20, 2005, at MDI Hospital, after a short illness. She was born June 8, 1905, in Ellsworth, the daughter of the late George and Grace Watson. Blanche spent her childhood in Brewer and attended schools there and in Bangor. After graduation from high school, she moved to Bar Harbor. She was employed at the F.E. Sherman China Store and later went to work for the Bar Harbor Banking and Trust Co. until she retired. She was a member of St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church, where she was an active member of the Seabury Club. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her son, Walter “Joe” Cunningham; and grandson, Bruce Freeman. She is survived by daughters, Pauline Johnson, Beverly Frazier and her husband, Robert and daughter-in-law, Mary Cunningham, all of Bar Harbor. Mama Blanche is also survived by grandchildren, Jillaine Butler of Bar Harbor, Steve Freeman and wife, Justine, of Scarborough, Kathy Conlogue and husband, John, of Rockland, Christine Freeman of North Carolina, Raye Menzietti of Lamoine, John Cunningham and wife, Sylvia, of Hulls Cove, Gayle Davis and husband, Michael, of California; 15 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. At her request, there will be graveside services, which will be announced at a later date.
