BAR HARBOR – Bob Noonan, 52, of Bar Harbor, died of esophageal cancer on July 21, 2004, with his family and his two black labs by his side. He was born in Medford, Mass., the son of the late John F. and Mary (Donahue) Noonan. He was a 1970 graduate of Arlington, Mass., High School, where he first developed an interest in photography. He received a BS in civil engineering from Northeastern University in 1976, and an MS in environmental engineering from Northeastern in 1980. He was a licensed professional engineer. In 1976 he married Judith Colaluca and in 1979, the couple relocated to Maine from Massachusetts. In 1985, they welcomed their only child, Heather Colleen. After several years in the engineering field, Bob decided to pursue his passion for photography as a full time career. In 1989, the family moved to Mt. Desert Island where Bob established Bob Noonan Photography. Bob won numerous awards for his work at the state, regional, and national levels. He was a member of the Maine Professional Photographers Association, Professional Photographers Association of New England, and Professional Photographers of America. Bob was an active member of the MDI Rotary Club and a parishioner at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharist minister. He was licensed amateur radio operator under the call sign WB1GDZ. Bob’s greatest joy was that he passed on his passion for photography to his daughter, Heather. In addition to his beloved wife and daughter, Bob is survived by two sisters, Carole Hensel, and her husband, Neil, of Avalon, N.J., Joan Clow of El Cajon, Calif.; and one brother, John Robert Noonan and his wife, Patricia Leslie, of Philadelphia, Pa. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 p.m., Sunday, July 25, at Jordan-Fernald Bar Harbor Chapel, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11a.m. Monday, July 26, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Mt. Desert Street, Bar Harbor, with Father John O’Hara, celebrant.
