BREUNIS VERBURGT MACHIASPORT and BEALS – Breunis Verburgt, 83, went to be with the Lord Sept. 22, 2005. He was born Sept. 10, 1922, in Paterson, N.J. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard having served in World War II. Breunis was a member of the American Legion, Machias Rotary, and the Machiasport Congregational Church. He was an officer and hard worker in the county association of Congregational Churches. He was a retired civil service employee and a local landscaper. Breunis was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, June A. Verburgt, in 1986; and one son, Paul A. Verburgt. He leaves behind one sister, Charlotte Grudgel, of Machiasport; three sons, Mark Verburgt and wife, Reba, of Machiasport; Stephen L. Verburgt and wife, Amelia, of Cutler, and Scott C. Verburgt and wife, Christy, of Machiasport; one daughter, Carrie E. Gardner and husband, John, of Machiasport; 11 grandchildren; 14+ great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one special friend and companion, Arlene Moore. Visiting hours will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at Bragdon-Kelley-Camp-bell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias. A funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at the Machiasport Congregational Church. Burial will immediately follow at the Church Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
