PRESQUE ISLE – Brian James Fitzgerald, 69, beloved husband of Mary (Montague) Fitzgerald, died unexpectedly Nov. 26, 2005, at his home. He was born Dec. 28, 1935, in Hartford, Conn., son of John F. and Mary C. (Moran) Fitzgerald. He earned his bachelor of art and master of art from Boston University and his Ph.D. from University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He was professor emeritus of English at the University of Maine at Presque Isle, having retired in 1997, after teaching 23 years. He previously taught at the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown, Canada. In addition to his wife of 40 years, he is survived by one son, David Montague Fitzgerald; daughter-in-law, Patricia; and twin grandsons, Aidon and Conor of Collierville, Tenn.; one daughter, Caragh Beth Fitzgerald; and son-in-law, Mark Davis of Eldersburg, Md.; and one sister, Louise Helen Fitzgerald of Montezuma, Ariz. He was predeceased by his parents. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, Mass., at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Salvation Army, the American Heart Association or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home.
