ENFIELD and CASHIERS, N.C. – Brian Warren Davis, 70, died Feb. 17, 2007, in Cash-iers, N.C., with his beloved companion and two sons at his side, after a long illness. Born Aug. 25, 1936, in Bath, he was the son of Bridget Connolly Davis, who emigrated from County Kerry, Ireland, and Ralph Davis of Georgetown Island. Brian attended school on Georgetown Island and Morse High School, Bath. He was a Korean War veteran, having served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard, of which the last two were spent on Great Duck Island Light Station, located on Mount Desert Island. Brian was a 20-year veteran of the Maine State Police, assigned to Troop E, Orono; Troop G, Maine Turnpike and Troop I, Orono. After retiring in 1980, he took over management of the Indian Cove Marina, Merritt Island, Fla. He resided in Melbourne, Fla., where he remained until returning to Maine in 1982. Upon his return to Maine, he worked as a self-employed private investigator and insurance adjuster. He relinquished his stock as vice president of the C.A. Neal Co. early in 2006, due to health reasons. At the time of his passing he was residing in Cashiers, N.C. Brian was a member of the Masons, a Provost Shriner of the Anah Shrine, Bangor and was also a one time post commander of the VFW, West Enfield. Brian was an avid motorcyclist and member of the Blue Knights and Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He leaves behind a very dear and beloved companion, Joyce Foster; a daughter Jennifer (Foster) Kevic and her husband, Brian and their two children, Andrew and Mary Grace; two sons, Glenn and his wife, Donna and their daughter, Kristin and son, Chad, and Jeffrey along with his wife, Denise; sister, Maureen Cloutier and her husband, Lawrence; brother, Terrence Davis, many nieces and nephews; and Brian’s former wife, Janice Davis. A memorial service will be held in the Howland/Enfield area in early summer 2007, with a ceremony to be performed by the Maine State Police Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church Discretionary Fund, P.O. Box 106 Winn, ME 04495. This is a small parish that strives to meet the needs of the larger community; a community in which Brian had served as a trooper for 20 years, and spent most of his adult life. It is a community he was so much a part of and a land he so dearly loved.
