GRAND ISLAND, Fla. – Calvin L. Jolley died Wednesday, June 18, 2008. He was born June 29, 1924, in Waterloo, Quebec, son of Leon and Edith Jolley. Mr. Jolley was a World War II veteran, having served as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was the founder of Crescent Lumber Corp., Orrington. Mr. Jolley was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge No. 83, Bangor. After World War II, he continued his love of flying as a private pilot for many years. He was also a loyal supporter of the Boy Scouts of America in the state of Maine, and received the Silver Beaver Award for his many fundraising efforts for the scouts. Mr. Jolley was a member of Epiphany Celebration Anglican Church, Mount Dora, Fla. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Pauline E. Jolley; and siblings, Maurice, William, Lillian, Mabel and Betty. He is survived by daughters, Carol Haney and husband, Paul, of Tavares, Fla., Gayle Jolley of Grand Island, Fla., and Patricia Chavaree and husband, Michael, of Orrington. Mr. Jolley was affectionately known as “Pa,” “Bumpa” and “Grampa” by his beloved grandchildren, Joanna and Sarah, Matthew and Shannon, and Alisa and Bree. He was also blessed to have three great-grandchildren, Bryson, Nathan and Claire. He also leaves behind devoted friends, Nancy and Louis Shumaker of Orrington. The family extends thanks and gratitude to all Cornerstone Hospice staff for their dedication and compassionate care. The family will receive friends at a visitation 7-9 p.m. Monday, June 23, at Bay Street Baptist Church, 1724 South Bay St., Eustis, Fla. A service celebrating Mr. Jolley’s life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Jolley’s memory to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778.
