PATTEN – Carl Ivan Boutaugh, 76, traveled his final journey into the arms of his Father, and his best friend and beloved brother, Gary, Thursday, July 31, 2008, after a short period of ill health. He was born Aug. 7, 1931, in Millinocket, the seventh of 11 children to James A. and Harriet (Brown) Boutaugh Sr. He graduated from Stearns High School, Class of 1948. Carl was a decorated Army veteran of the Korean War and worked at Great Northern Paper Co., until his retirement. He was a man who loved God and was a man of many talents, loves and strengths. Carl is survived by a brother, Wendell Boutaugh and his wife, Susanne, of Millinocket; four sisters, Rosetta Myrick of Florida, Harriet Briggs and Christine Boutaugh of Millinocket, and Natalie Boutaugh of Houlton; a sister-in-law, Jacqueline Boutaugh; a brother-in-law, Alton Lane; many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his “little girl,” Jaimie Roberts and her mom, Maria Michaels; and his precious grandson, Ian. They brought great love and happiness to his life. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, James Jr., Vaughn and Gary; and sisters, Gladys Heilman and Billie Lane At his request, there will be no visiting hours. Graveside services with military honors will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Millinocket Cemetery with the Rev. Caroline Metzler officiating.
