BANGOR – Carla (Ames) Cohen, 84, wife of the late George D. Cohen, died Nov. 6, 2006, at her home. She was born in Walden, Mass., daughter of Abraham and Lena S. (Newman) Ames. Carla was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1940 and employed as a realtor for the J.F. Singleton Co., Bangor for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Bangor Board of Realtors and the Beth Israel Synagogue and Sisterhood. Carla was a board member of the Jewish Community Council and the Senior Citizen’s Friendship Club. Surviving are three children, Elaine R. Siegel and her husband, Joseph, of Bedford, Mass., Barry A. Cohen and his wife, Ruth-Ellen, of Bangor and Lisa A. Cohen Lunn and her husband, H. David, of Bangor; six grandchildren, Rachel L. Safer and her husband, Morry, of Massachusetts, Laura J. Shechter and her husband, Guy, of New York, Karen F. Siegel of Massachusetts and her fiance, Barak Shechter of Maryland, Ian E. Cohen of Massachusetts, Adam M. Cohen and Johanna L. Lunn, both of Bangor; one brother, Maurice S. Ames of Massachusetts, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, George, she was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers, Susie (Ames) Brown, Esther I. Ames, Ernest “Jack” Ames, Goldie Ames, Alexander Ames and Melvin Ames. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at the Jewish Funeral Chapel, Center Street, Bangor, with Rabbi Barry Krieger officiating. Interment will be at Beth Israel Cemetery. Memorial week will be observed 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 1-3 p.m. Friday, 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at her home in Bangor.
