EAST MACHIAS – Carrie Hawkins Albee, 81, passed away, after a courageous battle with Parkinsons Disease, Oct. 8, 2004, at Marshall Health Care Facility with her loved ones by her side. She was born July 15, 1923, at Wesley, the daughter of Thatcher B. and Bessie M. (Ingersoll) Hawkins. Most of all Carrie loved her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Words cannot even begin to express how helpful and loving she was to her family. She will be remembered by family and friends as always being there with her love and support. She was a good listener. She could always be counted on in times of trouble. She was a great friend and confidant to many. She always had a positive attitude and she was loved and respected by all who knew her. She enjoyed scratch tickets; was an avid fisherman and a frequent Foxwoods visitor. She enjoyed her winter trips to Florida and playing cards with her sister, Rose. In the 1950’s Carrie occasionally drove the school bus for East Machias. She was an Avon Representative in Cutler and East Machias. Later she worked at Down East Community Hospital and retired after 20 years of service. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Reynolds and husband, Francis, of Pembroke, and Mona Albee of East Machias. She had three grandchildren, Trent Reynolds and wife, Kari, of East Machias, Rhonnie Gardner and husband, Joseph of Edmunds and Kari Anne Reynolds of Portland. She also had three great-grandchildren, Delaney and Gavin Gardner, and Hadlee Shae Reynolds. She is also survived by two brothers, Chester Hawkins and wife, Faye, of East Machias, and Alvah Hawkins and wife, Betty, of Wesley, four sisters, Marguerite Ridlon of Maryland, Rose Lund and husband, Leo, of East Machias, Josephine Ambrose of Sherman Mills and Thelma Treadwell and husband, Francis of Clinton. She was predeceased by her husband, Lewis; a son, Ronnie, brothers Albert and Larry Hawkins. The family wishes to extend a heart felt thanks to Carrie’s very special friend, Isabelle Hayward for her loyalty and support during her illness. Carrie will always be cherished and remembered. Friends are invited to visit with the family, 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias. A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, at the Centre Street Congregational Church with Rev. Gini King officiating.
