BRADENTON, Fla. – Carrol “Ed” Bangs, 81, went to be with the Lord, April 24, 2008. Born in Harmony, he came to Ellenton, Fla., in 1994. Survivors include his wife, Sheila Bangs of Ellenton, Fla.; his children, John Bangs of Maple Grove, Minn., Karen Zimmerman of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Antoinette Bangs of Colchester, Conn.; stepdaughter, Lisa Waugh of Braintree, Mass.; stepsons, Raymond Waugh Jr. of Middleboro, Mass., and David Waugh of Bridgewater, Mass.; six grandchildren, Jessica, Alisha, Christopher, Mark, Shauna and Caitlin; and sister, Janet Turner of Sparks, Nev. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred (Olson) Bangs; and his siblings, Daniel Stevens, Muriel Poore, Jensen Bangs and Dwight Saville. Ed served in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II and U.S. Navy during the Korean War. His career was with the U.S. Government from 1955 to 1977. He was a member of the Square Club and Shuffleboard Club in Tidevue, Fla., the Masonic Lodge, Cambridge and Tin Can Sailors. He was a past president of the National Exchange Club, Culpeper, Va.
