SKOWHEGAN – Carroll N. Lewia, 81, husband of Constance I. (Bilodeau) Lewia, died Oct. 15, 2004, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 7, 1923, in Skowhegan, the son of Henry and Rose (Giroux) Lewia Bizier. Carroll and Constance were married June 28, 1947. He served during World War II with the U.S. Army, Battery D, 468th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion under Gen. Patton in the European Theatre. He was employed by Norrwock Shoe Co. for 40 years and retired from New Balance in 1984. He was a communicant of Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Skowhegan and was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. Carroll and his twin brother, Carlton, were the only twin baseball (pitcher-catcher) battery in the state and were involved in the 1941, high school state playoff championship competition. Surviving in addition to his wife of Skowhegan, are five children, Brian Lewia and his wife, Kathleen, of Norridgewock, Pamela Parker and her husband, Gerry, of Hampden, Gary Lewia and his wife, Linda, of Levant, David Lewia and his wife, Karen, of Midland, Mich., and Cheryl Greeno and her husband, Don, of Rock Hill, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren and their spouses, Gregory, Daniel, Stephen, Deborah, Amy, Jody, Corey, Stephanie, Nicole, Samuel, Josef and Jacob; six great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, Skowhegan, with the Rev.
