ELLSWORTH – Casper G. Sargent Jr. died unexpectedly March 30, 2008, with his family by his side. Casper was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Lamoine, the son of Casper G. and Irene (Hamilton) Sargent Sr. A life-long resident and civic leader of Ellsworth, Casper was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fly-fishing. He owned and operated Sargent Coal and Oil Corp., then founded Sargent Real Estate, where he remained active in the business until his death. Casper G. Sargent Jr. is survived by his loving family; his six children, Anne Sargent Lusby and her husband, Carl J., of Ellsworth, Janice Sargent Mitchell of Ellsworth, Teresa L. Sargent Smith and her husband, Douglas Jr., of Ellsworth, Jean E. Sargent of Brunswick, Ruth M. Sargent of Freeport, Daniel W. Sargent and Beverly Grindle of Ellsworth; 13 special grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. Casper was predeceased by his beloved wife, Teresa L. Sargent; his parents; a brother, Kenneth Sargent; and son-in-law, George W. Mitchell. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A celebration of Casper’s life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 231 Main St., Ellsworth. A reception will be held immediately after at Father Kenny Center adjacent to the church.
