ATHENS, Ohio – Catherine McQuaid Steiner of Athens, Ohio, died Sunday, March 28, 2004 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, following a lengthy and courageous battle with complications of Type I diabetes. She was born March 1, 1940, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Francis Anthony McQuaid, now of Eastham, Mass., and the late Florence Adgate McQuaid. In addition to her husband and father, Cathy is survived by her children, Edward Poston “Ted” Steiner of Athens, Ohio and Elizabeth Ruth Steiner of San Francisco, Calif.; three sisters, Frances Kemp of Plymouth, Patricia (William) Eagar of Eastham, Mass., and Rita (Paul) Fallon of Georgetown, Mass.; aunts, Esther McQuaid and Dorothy Harkins, both of Revere, Mass.; an uncle, Frederick (Molly) Adgate of Woburn, Mass.; many nieces and nephews. Her brother, Edward Patrick McQuaid of Dublin, Ireland, died in 1998. A funeral Mass was celebrated at her parish church, St. Paul’s in Athens, Ohio. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
