STACYVILLE – Cecil R. Rodgerson, 89, passed peacefully into heaven June 22, 2006, surrounded by family after a brief illness. He was born Sept. 21, 1916, in Stacyville, the son of Bert and Carrie (Bragg) Rodgerson. Cecil was married to Audrey Bragg for 62 years until she predeceased him in 2001. He spent 40-plus years serving the Robinson family working at Sherman Lumber Co. After his retirement, he lovingly cared for his wife and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. After her passing, he dedicated his life to helping others and was a big help building the fellowship hall at church. He enjoyed bowling and playing cards. He faithfully attended Calvary Baptist Church in Stacyville. He is survived by his loving and caring son, Kevin Rodgerson and his wife, Karen, of Stacyville; grandson, Patrick Rodgerson and his friend, Amanda Cole, of Presque Isle; granddaughter, Rena Rodgerson of Stacyville; his wonderful and devoted sister, Freda McLain of Millinocket; several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his “little ones,” Emma “Flappy” and Baby Raymond “Buster” McGraw of Sherman. He received many hours of enjoyment watching them. He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Arthur Rodgerson; and sisters, Ella Rodgerson and Elsie Mullen. A time of visitation will be held 2-3 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at Calvary Baptist Church, Stacyville, with the funeral service 3 p.m. with Pastor Mike Booker officiating. In lieu of flowers, Cecil requested donations be made in his memory to Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 239, Stacyville, ME 04777 or to the family at P.O. Box 224, Stacyville, ME 04777 to establish a scholarship fund for his granddaughter, Rena, for college. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Blagdon, Audie Horn and staff at Katahdin Valley Health Center, Barbara Ireland and day program workers at Mountain Heights and the wonderful staff at Madigan Estates, who treated him with dignity and respect and affectionately cared for him in his last days. Also many thanks to our loving church family for all their support at this time. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.
