SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. Charles Arnold Blaisdell, 86, died Nov. 21, 2003, at the Wesley Health-care Center. He was born March 7, 1917, in Bangor. Charlie for many years had his own carpenter/contractor business on Long Island, N.Y. Moving to upstate New York in 1978, he retired from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., in 1987. He served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a dive-bomber pilot in World War II. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elsie Winifred (DeGennaro); two sons, Kenneth Charles of Wellesley, Mass., Douglas John and daughter-in-law, Brenda, of Jonesville, N.Y.; two granddaughters, Kimberly Regan Clearfield of Oceanside, Calif. and Shannon Leigh Blaisdell of Delmar, N.Y.; three brothers, Frank of Glenburn, Richard of Fort Worth, Texas and Eugene of Wappinger Falls, N.Y., as well as a sister, Helen, of Winterport. A superb craftsman, Charlie enjoyed repairing and restoring classic and specialty automobiles. He will be interred with military honors next spring at the Saratoga National Cemetery. The family requests that any donations be made to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots or to the Wesley Foundation, 131 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
