ORRINGTON – Charles “Rollie” Prahm Jr., 58, beloved husband of Pauline “Polly” Prahm, died unexpectedly May 27, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 19, 1948, in Bangor, the son of Charles Roland Prahm Sr. and Rosella A. (Ring) Prahm. Rollie graduated from Brewer High School, Class of 1966 and entered the U.S. Army, November 1967. He served in the Signal Corp stationed in Germany. While he was stationed there, he fell in love with the country and had planned to return with his wife. He was honorably discharged from the Army in October 1969. Upon returning home, he worked for Peavey Manufacturing in Eddington for a short time, then he began a 30-year career with the Bangor Water District. Rollie loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing and especially Alligator Island and Lake, where he met Carl and Clara Bamford, who ran the lodge there. After Carl’s death, Rollie stayed with Clara on the island until her death. In memory of them, Rollie successfully petitioned the state to name a nearby mountain, Bamford Mountain. Rollie and his wife enjoyed spending time together at their camp and scouring the countryside for antiques. He was a member of the Ralph J. Pollard Lodge No. 217 AF & AM of Orrington, and had worked his way through the chairs to master of the lodge. At the time of his death, he was secretary. Rollie was a member of Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Bangor, Maine Consistory 32 degree, the York Rite Bodies, and Anah Shriners. He truly enjoyed masonry. Surviving in addition to his wife, Polly; are his two daughters, Kelley Goodell and her husband, Mark and Alicia Tozier and her husband, Ron, all of Orrington; he was a devoted Papa to his grandsons, Ben Goodell, Anthony Harmon, Kyle Tozier and Nicholas Tozier, all of Orrington; mother-in-law, Ruth Miner of Orrington; sister-in-law, Evelyn Miner of Brewer; brother-in-law, Tom Miner and his wife, Jane, of Holden; two uncles and one aunt; several cousins; very special friends, Scott and Kellie Stanhope of Hampden, John McDonald, Gene and Elaine Foster, all of Eddington, Bruce and Candi Morrill, Doug and Kathy Sabine, all of Orrington. He was predeceased by a grandson, Gabriel Scott Tozier; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Miner. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where folks are invited to a Masonic memorial service 7:30 p.m. Wednesday conducted by the officers and members of the Ralph J. Pollard Lodge. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 1, at the funeral home with the Rev. Kathryn Smith, of EOCC, officiating. Private interment will be in Marston Cemetery, Orrington. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith, Reception Rooms, 55 South Main St., Brewer, after the service.
