DEDHAM – Charles Watson Lawson Jr., 55, died unexpectedly June 27, 2005, at the Lucerne Beach Club. He was born in Augusta, May 4, 1950, the son of Charles Watson and Arlene Ann (Galley) Lawson Sr. Charlie was a graduate of Ellsworth High School. In 1971, he received an associates degree in resource business management from the University of Maine and in 1988, an associate degree in personal administration from Community College of the Air Force. In 1988, he received a degree in university studies from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in education, University of Maine, Class of 1993. He had been employed for 28 years by the Maine Air National Guard of Bangor in personal administration, education and training, retiring March 1, 1997, as chief master sergeant. For the past eight years, he was the manager of the Lucerne Beach Club, fondly referred to as the Aborigine. Charlie served as president of the Phillip’s Lake Watch and selectman of the Town of Dedham for many years. He loved building rock walls, being in the woods, taking care of camps around Phillip’s Lake and helping anyone who needed him. He thoroughly enjoyed following his boys, whom he was very proud of, on all their sports activities and trips with family and friends. He was also an avid Red Sox’s fan. Surviving, in addition to his parents of Ellsworth, are his loving wife of 30 years, Katherine (Cyr) Lawson; two sons, Casey A. Lawson and Colin A. Lawson, all of Dedham; a brother, James A. Lawson and sister, Susan A. Lawson, both of Ellsworth; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends, David and Kathie Parkhurst of Boothbay Harbor. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2005, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Richard M. Dickinson, chaplain of the Maine Air National Guard officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately following the service on Friday at The Overlook Building, Lucerne Inn.
