PERRY – Charles Wesley Stevenson went to be with the Lord on Sept. 4, 2004, after a brief illness at home surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born March 22, 1920, in Eastport on son of Alfred and Florence Stevenson. He attended Eastport Schools and graduated from Shead Memorial High School in 1937. For many years Charles worked as a clerk for S.L. Wadsworth & Son and in later years for The Mearl Corporation as a night watchman. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Katheryn; his sister, Virginia Stevenson Bostwick; and his brother, Alfred “Junior” Stevenson. Charles is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Betty and Bill Harding of Lamoine, Dorothy and David Turner of Perry, Nancy and Danny Manchester of Machias; a grandson, Christopher Stevenson, who was like a son to him; grandsons, David Turner and wife, Bili Jo, Michael Harding, Darren Turner and wife, Darci, Adam Stevenson; granddaughters, Susan Bryer, Debbie Stuart and husband, Robin and Karen Harding; nine great-grandchildren, who all loved him very much. At his request, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Hillside Cemetery in Eastport. Friends who wish may donate in his memory to the charity of your choice.
