HANCOCK – Charles Willard Carter III, 56, died July 6, 2007, at his residence. He was born March 15, 1951, in Bar Harbor, the son of Harold and Hattie (Cummings) Carter. Charlie served in the U.S. Army in Korea and the Vietnam War, in which he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device and Marks-man Badge M16. He served with the Army Corps of Engineers and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic. He was most interested in electronics and enjoyed building small wooden boats, which he and Kimberlee did together. He is survived by his wife, Kimberlee A. Campbell of Hancock; children, Charles Carter, Randall Carter, Heather Emmons, Joseph Carter and Michael Treworgy; sisters, Lydia Morang, Mary Stout and Gladys Dehmlow; and brother, Harold Carter. He was predeceased by his parents; and by his sister, Margaret Hardwick. Calling hours will be held 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 12, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 13.
