HANSCOM FALMOUTH, Mass. – Charlotte Clement Hanscom, 87, died Saturday evening, March 18, 2006, at JML Care Center in Falmouth, Mass. She was the beloved wife of the late Elmer Lowell Hanscom. Charlotte was born Jan. 19, 1919, in Bangor, to the late Philip P. and Martha (Mansur) Clement. She graduated from Edgewood Park, N.Y. and Colby Junior College, N.H. For several years she was employed by the U.S. Foreign Service, living in Tokyo, Rome, Cairo and Caracas. She returned to the states, met her husband, Elmer, and raised her family for 25 years in Dover, Mass. She spent summers with her family in East Falmouth and belonged to the Menauhant Yacht Club. She moved to Falmouth, Mass., permanently 22 years ago. She enjoyed her family, boating, playing bridge and hiking. She was a member of the Junior League, the Appalachian Mountain Club and volunteered for the Samaritans. Charlotte was the mother of Martha Hanscom Weintraub of Medfield, Mass. and Lisa Hanscom Seff of East Hampton, N.Y.; sister of Barbara Ann Brewer of Brewster and Pauline C. Barron of Hampden; and grandmother of four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6, in Menauhant’s Grace Memorial Chapel, Central Avenue, East Falmouth, Mass.
