BRADENTON, FLA. – Charlotte Emily (Katen) Tibbetts Dubay, 73, died peacefully Nov. 22, 2005, in Bradenton, Fla. She was born, Jan. 13, 1932, in Ornville, to Charles and Ella (Best) Katen. She graduated from Bangor High School in 1950, where she was a cheerleader and played on the girl’s basketball team. She served in the Army during the Korean War. During that time she married Phillip M. Tibbetts May 27, 1951, in Orrington, with her in her Army uniform and him in his Navy uniform. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, sewing and doll making for family and friends. She owned and operated Millcreek Yarns and Fabric in South Orrington in the early 70’s. She married Rodney W. Dubay Aug. 6, 1978, at Neally’s Corner Church in Hampden. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Rodney W. Dubay of Bradenton, Fla., her five children, Katherine Tibbetts and husband, Jiminez Cortez, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Gail Tibbetts and husband, Jay Cruce, of Littleton, Colo., Larry Tibbetts and wife, Cheryle, of Columbus, Ohio, Brenda (Tibbetts) Boyorak and husband, Mark, of Winterport and Terry Dubay of Bradenton, Fla.; her eight grandchildren, Christine Shotwell and Jiminez Cortez of Honolulu, Hawaii, Janet Tibbitts and Stephen Tibbetts of Maine, Samantha Tibbetts of Columbus, Ohio, David Boyorak and wife, Shannan, of Brewer, John Boyorak and Robert Boyorak of Winterport; step-grandchildren, Tom Casto and Ann Fitch of Columbus, Ohio; five great-grandchildren, Meagan Pilmaco of Honolulu, Hawaii, Anthony Boyorak and Victoria Boyorak of Brewer, Hailee Casto and Kristen Fitch of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Margerite Groves of Brewer, Esther and husband, Dennis Trask, of Bangor and Maxine Braley of Winterport; brother, George Katen and wife, Elaine, of Brewer; sister-in-law, Alice Katen of Altoona, Penn. She was predeceased by her first husband, Phillip M. Tibbetts; brothers, Charles Katen and Raymond Katen; brother-in-law, Paul Braley; and grandson, Anthony Chase Drawdy. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews along with many friends here in Maine and Florida. There will be no services at her request. In lieu of flowers please make donations in her name to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
