BANGOR – Charlotte K. Keast, 81, wife of the late Edwin Keast, died Dec. 11, 2005, at a local healthcare facility. She was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Northeast Harbor the daughter of Arthur and Mabel (Carter) Smith. Charlotte worked as a loving and caring nurse for 38 years in Waterville. She enjoyed collecting antique dolls and doing arts and crafts. She loved to travel and was known for her “hugs and kisses.” Charlotte is survived by two sons, Kenneth Bracy of Connecticut, James and his wife, Linda Bracy, of New York; two daughters, Madeline Lockard of Connecticut, Sandra Doyon of Ohio; a stepdaughter, Gail and her husband, John Schaffer, of Lincoln; a stepson, Lloyd Keast of Skowhegan; her sister, Hazel Thomas of Bangor; her brother and his wife, Arthur and Elsie Smith of New Brunswick, Canada; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She will be missed and was loved by all who knew her. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by two brothers, Francis and Fred Smith; two sisters, Adella Nickerson, and Marion Hinckley. The family wishes to thank the staff at Westgate Manor for their compassionate and loving care. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor with the Rev. Wade Schaffer, officiating. Friends and relatives may call from noon until time of the service. Interment will be in the spring at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hermon.
