OLD TOWN and LINCOLN Charlotte “Louise” L. Legere, 74, died Aug. 5, 2004, after a short but valiant battle with cancer. She was born June 27, 1930, in Winn, the daughter of Lawrence and Maisie (Grass) Cox, and raised by her mother and stepfather, Walter A. Ryder. Louise was part of a large family. She loved to play beano, sit outside and watch the world go by. Louise touched many people’s lives with her humor and even while ill made other people laugh. She also enjoyed collecting cookie jars and going to local auctions with her daughter. Louise treasured her independence and had genetic strain of stubbornness and independence that she passed along to her daughter and granddaughter that they all are proud to have received. She is survived by her one daughter, Fran and her husband, Peter Barry; two grandchildren of whom she was quite proud of, Thomas Crocker of Hudson, Lauren Crocker; a sister, Shirley Lenz of Amery, Wis.; brother, Kenneth Ryder of Lincoln; a special niece, Beatrice Badger of Old Town; four nephews, Walter, Chuck, John and William Rodke all of Wisconsin; a dear friend, Brenna Thornton of Old Town. In addition to her mother and stepfather, she was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Francis “Conkie” Legere; a sister, Peggy Lou; brothers, Clanton, William and Phillip. A graveside service will be held 12 noon Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at the Lawndale Cemetery in Old Town. Gifts in her memory may be made to CancerCare of Maine, care of Eastern Maine Charities, P.O.
