STETSON – Christina E. Merrill, 88, died May 3, 2007, at a Bangor, hospital after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 21, 1918, in South Berwick, the daughter of Clifford and Flora (MacIsaac) Goodwin. She was educated in the South Berwick schools and was a graduate of South Berwick Academy. Christina married Lewis Merrill, Sept. 5, 1938, who died Dec. 29, 1991. They had been married for 53 years. She was a former member and past secretary of the Pleasant Lake Grange, Stetson. For several years Christina served as bookkeeper for the town of Stetson. She worked with her husband on the family farm in Stetson enjoying her beautiful gardens and she always had a good meal for everyone who came to her home. She is survived by two sons, Wayne C. Merrill of Stetson, and Neil Merrill and his wife, Elaine, of Corinth; five daughters, Ann E. Drew of South Berwick, Joan C. Merrill of Atlanta, Cheryl and her husband, Al Pelkey, of Dallas, Ga., Marilyn J. Merrill of Brewer, and Linda and her husband, Richard Wescott, of Hermon; six grandchildren, Julie, Debbie, Amy, Leslie, Mercedes, and Angela; seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceasing her was her husband, Lewis; son-in-law, John Drew; sister, Beatrice; and brother, Arthur. Friends may call 1-2 p.m. Monday, May 7, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport. After the visitation, funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. with Pastor Al Worden officiating. Burial will be in the family lot of Clarks Hill Cemetery Stetson.
