HODGDON – Clara Louise Putnam, 92, went to be with her Lord Jan. 5, 2006, at Houlton. She was born July 26, 1913, in Cary, the daughter of Harry and Rose (Collins) Getchell. Clara was member of the Cary Baptist Church her whole life. Mom was very devoted to her family and friends and was always ready to provide a meal. In her retirement years she was an avid fisherman. She is survived by her nine children, Lucille and her husband, Larry Colbath, of Largo Fla., Deane Putnam of Blackwood, N.J., Robert Putnam of Lewiston, Ramon and his wife, Vivian Putnam, of Cary, Lanny and his wife, Sharol Putnam, of Hodgdon, Madge and her husband, Armando Garcia, of Lutz, Fla., Christine and her husband, Dallas Henderson, of Hodgdon, Jill and her husband, Paul Hoyt, of Hampden, Marilyn and her husband, Fred Sjoberg, of Hodgdon; 19 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two sisters, Ola Darby of Rhode Island and Charlotte Knapp of Houlton; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, one daughter, Dale; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Putnam; three sisters, Beatrice Adams, Edna Pomroy, Marion Knapp; two brothers, Leon and Delmont. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, with funeral services being held 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Cary Baptist Church in Cary, with the Revs. Mark Lunn and Randall Burns, officiating. Spring interment will be in the Wilcox Settlement Cemetery.
