ENFIELD, Conn., and CLERMONT, Fla. – Clara (VanBuskirk) Porcello passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Westgate Manor Nursing Home, Clermont, Fla., after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 28, 1923, in Fort Fairfield, the second daughter of Edgar and Velma (Partridge) VanBuskirk. Clara met her husband, James Porcello of Enfield, Conn., while he was stationed at Presque Isle Air Force Base and they were married April 10, 1945. Upon his discharge they moved to Enfield, where she enrolled in the Hartford School of Cosmetology. Upon graduation, she became the owner of two beauty shops known as Clara’s Classic Salons. After retiring they made their permanent home in Clermont, Fla., where she joined many organizations, of which her favorites were, her bridge club and golfing ladies known as the 9-Holers. Clara is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Porcello of Clermont, Fla.; one brother, William VanBuskirk and his wife, Norma; one sister, Tressa Hetherington and her husband, Donald, all of Fort Fairfield; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an older sister, Marie Bragdon and her husband, Meredith, of East Cornith. Visiting hours for family and friends were held at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, Enfield, Conn. Interment will be in the family lot in Enfield, Conn. A service of Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.
